The Importance of Community - Feel the Spirit

We are not alone. We are surrounded by people. It could be the school's environment with professionals, colleagues or place we live in. Taking into consideration that learning also happens outside the classroom, we should value the community as valid sources of knowledge about the land, culture and history.

As educators, we ought to provide students with opportunities to understand the dynamics of peoples, cultures, places, issues and events that are integral to contemporary society.

This approach promotes building good relationships with local institutions. More importantly, it contributes to identity and a sense of belonging of the learners.

There are many ways students can learn from community members or support collective ideas and events. Additionally, they can help and inspire each other in their social circles.

One of the programs that advocates this kind of initiatives is CAMPUS CALGARY OPEN MINDS
