I would like every student to have a positive experience with art and grades not necessarily help with this. Therefore, marking has never been my favorite moment in the educational process. Creating a rubric helped me with breaking the assignment into categories such as: understanding of the concept, creativity, craftsmanship and work ethic. Giving points for each category is a fair way of marking and easier for learners to understand. This way summative assessment or assessment of learning becomes a useful tool for every teacher.
