Formative Assessment which I frequently Use in My Teaching Practice
Includes Peer and Self-assessment:

• Clarifying Questions – understanding of students’ thinking and clarifying misconceptions.

• One-to-one frequent verbal feedback.

• Positive comments on what has been done and advice what can still be improve

• “Exit Chat” – the favorite parts, the challenges and overall feelings about the project.

• Short Question – as I was walking around the tables I asked simple questions.

• Rotate Groups – students work at stations completing every part of the project.

• Chatting freely with my students as they got down to work on their art.

• Self-assessment: students had to make sure they completed all the steps before handing in their projects;also as a part of the rubric.

• Create something that includes specific elements of art and design that we have discussed before

– good way of checking if the students can apply the previous knowledge.

• “Talk to each other” – as a recap and sharing the lesson’s experience.

• “Be the teacher” – explain to the class if you know how to construct this image.

• “Group Work” – share ideas and inspire each other, “Make prediction” – especially before performing demos.

• Sketch-books, portfolios and artistic critiques as documenting the progress and sharing ideas within the classroom's community.

“Checking for understanding during lessons: Builds a classroom culture of trust and an opportunity to model collaboration; Treats students as partners in the learning process, It is an opportunity in getting to know the students as individuals and continually assess and adjust practice according to their readiness” (Berger, Rugen & Woodfin).
