Co-workers:
The educational process is impossible, in my opinion, without having good relationships with the learners and co-workers. I value the relationship I formed with my partner teachers during my practicum placements. Those people taught me the methods and approaches to be a successful teacher, as well as how to pass the knowledge and passion for art to next generations. I know that we all have personal preferences (especially when teaching art) but this is something that should not complicate the communication between two professionals working together.
Teaching, promotes collaboration that is beneficial to all learners. The Professional Development Day is one of those moments when we can improve our knowledge and skills. During my last practicum my colleagues and I participated in the woodworking workshop. The teacher of this subject taught us how to veneer a small board. It was a very informative and creative lecture that we shared together. When I feel comfortable as part of the team I acknowledge the importance of group work. It is very powerful. I even think that I would really love to try teaching according to STEAM in my future teaching career. I know there are special methods of combining art with math for instance (MART). I would like to be more familiar with this way of teaching and cooperating with other professionals in our field.
Parents:
Parents are the student's first teachers. They are partners in the educational process. Therefore, it is crucial to establish a good communication with them. I always try to find few minutes before and after school to chat with parents and guardians. Another way of staying in touch are: emails, positive notes in agendas and posting informative journals in the class' blog. I highly respect my relationships with parents and hope for collaboration in many aspects of our communal circle.
